Brigitte Ida Maria Scheffler

Brigitte Ida Maria Scheffler, 71, of Sodus Township, passed away, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market St., St. Joseph, with Rev. Michael Roth officiating. A private burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Brigitte’s name may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Lymphoma Research Foundation. Those wishing to sign Brigitte’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Brigitte was born November 25, 1948 in Bad Oldesloe, Germany to Oskar & Herta (Geruschkat) Noll. The family moved to Benton Harbor and she graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1966, and attended Lake Michigan College. On November 1, 1969 she married David Paul Scheffler at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. Brigitte devoted her life to her family, caring for her husband, her children, their home. Along with managing their home, Brigitte assisted her husband with the daily management of hundreds of acres of apple, peach, and cherry orchards which they owned together. In later years, she was employed in the loan department at Shoreline/Chemical Bank where she worked for over 25 years assisting with customer service and loan processing. Brigitte was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was involved in the PTA at Trinity Lutheran School during the years her 4 children attended. She was an active member of St. Joe Kickers Sports Club and held roles of Treasurer and Food Service Manager during her membership. Brigitte helped form a women’s club named “The Ladybug Club” where women would gather to share ideas, crafts, food, laughter, and support. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, gardening, spending time with her friends, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Brigitte is survived by her husband David Paul Scheffler; her children-David Lon “Lonnie” (Monica) Scheffler of Canton, MI, Laura Brigitte Gutierrez of Dallas, TX, Jason Kurtis (Mandy) Scheffler of Kalamazoo, Corey Paul (Nicole) Scheffler of Grand Rapids, MI; eight grandchildren-Mollie Sue & Lon Maxwell “Max” Scheffler, Larson Noll & Chloe Alexis Gutierrez, Von Steven Howard, Kurtis Edward & Blake Kingston Scheffler, Norah Evelyn Scheffler & a granddaughter expected any day; two brothers-Werner “Van” (Candace Strong) Noll of Kalamazoo, Tom (Sue) Noll of Bridgman. She was preceded in death by her parents Oskar & Herta Noll.
