I am the baby of the family and a week after I got my driver's license, I ran away from home and went to Darlene's. She made me call mom to let her know I was ok and the next day we went to the beach. There was a really handsome lifeguard and being 16, I was trying to impress him. Darlene was always full of pee and vinegar and there was a park on the beach with animals on springs for the little kids. She convinced me to get on one and after about three minutes she started really diving down on it. I outweighed her by 20 lb and the thing broke and flung me about 6 feet across the sand right on my face! AND the lifeguard was the one to pick me up! She was laughing so hard she could barely drive!

Darlene was a lovely person. She had a heart of gold. Meeting Darlene was the best thing that happened to me in 2020. I will forever be grateful for all the memories. And the way she loved my grandkids.I will never forget the sound of her voice saying “you be careful now “every time I left her house. ??? To Vicki Billy & Julie thanks for trusting me with your mom,
