LaVern worked for many years as a tool and die maker, earning the title of “Master.” He currently worked at Wolverine Metal Stamping where he began his career as an apprentice many years ago. LaVern enjoyed the simple things in life; classic American-made cars, the beauty of Grand Traverse, and the “occasional” cocktail. He was an honorary member of the Baroda American Legion. LaVern was committed to his family and his community, being a life-long employee in the Southwest Michigan area was something he was very proud of. He will be missed by his wife, Barbara Cluff; his sons, Matt (Joy) Cluff and Jason Cluff; his step-sons, Joshua and Jacob Harvath; his grandchildren, Timothy, Nicole, Chloe, and Abby Cluff; and his sister, Suzie (the late Butch) Borget and mother-in-law, Ruth Shuler.
