Steven Colburn Martin

Steven C. Martin, 67, of Lawrence, MI passed away on Sat., March 28, 2020 at his home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newell Chapel – 83313 M51, Decatur, MI. Steven was born in Watervliet, MI on Oct. 23, 1952 to the late Harry and Ada (Johnson) Martin. He was a 1971 graduate of Paw Paw High School. On Sept. 7, 1974 in Lawrence, he married Janice Conklin. Steve was an Asphalt Plant Manager and member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 for 40 years primarily at Klett Construction. He was a hard worker and enjoyed everything mechanical including building a vintage race car with his sons and friends. Whenever he could, he enjoyed fishing and loved panning for gold in Alaska. Steve is survived by his wife-Janice; children- Dedrie (Robbie) Brooks of Lawrence, Bob (Melissa) Martin and Brian (Sarah) Martin both of Mattawan; seven grandchildren- Jordyn, Jayden, Reagan, Foster, Louis, Eleanor and Harrison; and siblings- Mike Martin of Paw Paw, Pat Martin of Royal Oak, and Gayel Bullock of Union, KY. A private family Celebration of Life service was held with final resting place at Wildey Cemetery in Paw Paw, MI. The family is planning on a memorial gathering later in the year.
