Larry Bennett

Larry M. Bennett, 80, of Edwardsburg, formally of Dowagiac, passed away October 30, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St. Dowagiac, with Pastor Nathan Wilder officiating. A private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caring Circle Hospice. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Larry was born December 6, 1938, in St. Joseph, to Herman and Esther Bennett. He was a 1958 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School. On April 8, 1961, he married Marlene Jerue. He worked many years at Du-Wel in Dowagiac and at Clark Chapel for several years. His favorite job was being a Notre Dame Usher for 18 years. He was first and foremost Dad and Grandpa. He was an assistant Boy Scout Leader, member of the Jaycees, Dowagiac Lions Club and a Big Brother for several years. Larry is survived by his loving wife Marlene; Daughters, Judy (James) Judd, Susan (Guy) Dantone, Nancy Bennett and son Shawn (Will); grandchildren, Tim Judd, Janice (Abel, Jr.) Fonseca, Jesse (Savannah) Judd, Jacqueline Nelson, Annie (Ben) Rote, Jessica (Alex) Milius, Emily Chavarria, Katelyn and Hana Dantone; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Makenna, Ellianna, Alexa, Lillian, Chloe, Brody, Loralei, Matthew, Rozlyn, Avery, Mya, Evelyn and Elizabeth; sisters, Beva (Roger) Little and Denise (Robert) Hodges; several nieces and nephews and his brother-in-law, Tom Bauer. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Bauer and former son-in-law, Bob Nelson. The family would like to thank his special caregivers, Christine, Kacy, Tracy and Vanessa.
