Mr. Mackie was an educator I had the pleasure of knowing very well. He was the Vice Principal and part time line coach at CLS when I went there. He had the best time coaching football and definitely helped me out. My family also attended the FUMC with the Mackie’s. I remember the family filling up an entire pew. He was a great man and someone I think of quite often. My condolences to his family and RIP Mr Mackie. Ed Booth

John Mackie hired me at Crystal Lake Central High School in 1990 and poured his knowledge, love of kids, and character into me allowing me to become the teacher I am today. John loved students and his profession. I remember John walking into my class on a number of occasions just to be with students. I remember having in-depth conversations about teaching and coaching and John pushing me to "do what's right for the kids". His laugh was contagious and his insight invaluable.
