Mrs. Slater was my Home Ec teacher, as she was to many at NBHS. She and Mr. Slater were two of the favorites there. In more recent years, I would see her at Mass at St. Mary's. Sometimes we would share some conversation while walking to our cars afterward. Always a smile and she still looked so put together--that never changed. Truly a nice lady and a wonderful teacher.

I only attended N.B. High School through my four high school years, and never even was fortunate enough to have Mrs. Slater as a teacher, or as a counselor. But we knew each other well, and she always remembered who I was and what my name was through all of the later years when I would see her. She always took the time to visit with you when you bumped into her somewhere. She was truly a very great, very well-loved lady, and we will miss her terribly.

Truly one of my favorite teachers at NBHS. And so was Mr. Slater. I am the youngest in a family of four siblings and we all had them. Also my parents, Al & Nadra Kissman, had her as a teacher when Mrs. Slater was a new teacher at NB. We were also blessed to live in the same neighborhood - Orchard Acres. They had a lovely home with the most meticulously kept, beautiful yard. RIP Mrs. Slater - who taught me how to make a prize winning Lemon Meringue Pie - I know you are in heaven with Mr. Slater. The Slaters were two of the nicest people in the community and at NBHS. Home Ec was a good class-learned some helpful basics there from a sweet woman. After that I went on to take a food science class in college because my interest was sparked. Teachers touch so many lives.
