Darla Kay High, 52, of Dowagiac, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the University of Chicago Hospital.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Volinia Baptist Church, 19526 Marcellus Hwy, Decatur. Burial will follow at Sumnerville Cemetery in Niles. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday, February 22, 2019, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Darla was born March 7, 1966, in Dowagiac, to Thomas Cushing and Carol “Judy” (Pond) Cushing-Clark. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1984. On January 26, 2006, she married Wayne High in Niles, MI. Darla has been a member of the Volinia Baptist Church since 1992. Her faith in the Lord was very important to her, which was shown through her loyalty to the church as the Awana and the Bible School Director. Darla was a current student, studying at the Volinia Baptist Church, College of the Bible. Her family was also very important to her, living her life as the biblical example of a Godly wife and Godly mother. In her spare time, she enjoyed riding her horses and loved being out in the sunshine. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Darla is survived by her husband, Wayne High; mother, Judy (Carroll) Cushing-Clark; children, Raquel (Eric) Reynolds and their children, Grayson, Ruby and Raylan, Victoria (Justin) Jerz, Garett (Alyssa) Collins and their children Harper and Rozlyn, Wyatt Collins, Mandy (James) Bowers and their children Tyler and Landon and Krista (Jeremy) Corey and their son, Michael; sisters, Julie (Brent) Robinson, Andi (Erin) Gallagaher, Kelly (John) Falkner, Kristie (Jim) Bussler and Angie (Mike) Keene and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darla was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Cushing.
