Peter M. Mrozek

Peter M. Mrozek, Jr., 76, of New Buffalo, MI, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI. Peter was born on Sept. 29, 1941 in LaPorte, IN to the late Peter and Mary (Oman) Mrozek, Sr. He graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1961. Peter worked on the CSX Railroad for 41 years retiring in 2003. On October 28, 1978 in Muskegon, MI he married Nancy Jo Tamblyn. Peter was a member of the volunteer New Buffalo Township Fire Department; a member of the Harbor Commission; he loved to fish and bowl, and was an avid MSU Spartan fan. Peter is survived by his wife Nancy; children- Robert Mrozek, Trisha Mrozek, Christine (Brian) Hull and Erin (Jon) Nahrwold; grandchildren; and a brother- Stan Mrozek. The family will receive friends at a memorial gathering on Friday, March 2, from 3:30-6:30pm at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. The family will gather this summer at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo and lay Peter’s cremated remains to rest. Memorial contributions may be made to ‘Blessings in a Backpack’ in c/o Water’s Edge United Methodist Church or to the Michiana Humane Society or to the New Buffalo Township Public Library.
