Bobby Rodgers

Bobby Rodgers, 90, of New Buffalo, MI passed away at Brentwood Assisted Living in LaPorte, IN on Sat., Oct. 6, 2018. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.  Bobby was born on July 2, 1928 in Lake City Arkansas to the late Wren and Goldie (Hall) Rodgers. He was the third of four children – his siblings are all deceased; Richard Rodgers, Joyce Morris and Doris Keller. Bobby was married on May 15, 1948 in Bradford, Arkansas to Violet Strickland for 58 years – she preceded him in death in November 2006. He moved to New Buffalo from Bradford, Arkansas and lived here for 60 years. Bobby retired from Transportation, Material Handling Trucking Company out of Midwest Steel as a truck driver. He also was a mechanic for Browns Garage in The Pines in Michigan City, IN. He loved to fish – especially the White River in Arkansas and the Galien River in New Buffalo. Bobby enjoyed spending time with his friends Bill and Tony. He also had many feline friends throughout the years with ‘Blackie’ being his favorite.  Bobby is survived by one son – Bobbie (Janet) Rodgers of New Buffalo; grandchildren – Robert (Liza Campbell) Rodgers of New Buffalo and Jennifer (Jonathan) Donnelly of New Buffalo; great grandchildren – Anna, Abigail and Eric Vitale, and Graham Rodgers; and step great grandchildren – Hannah and Sam Donnelly.  A visitation with the family will take place on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo.
