Martha A. Hopkins

Martha “Marti” A. Hopkins, 95, of Buchanan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 24, 2018, in Buchanan. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Buchanan Christian Church, 112 W. Third St., Buchanan, MI. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Caring Circle Hospice, 4025 Health Park Ln. St. Joseph or Buchanan Christian Church. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com. Marti was born on May 2, 1923 to Lou and Maude Schaffer. On December 18, 1941 she married Franklin George Hopkins. She retired from Easy Heat in New Carlisle. After retirement Marti worked at the Buchanan Library for several years. She loved reading, especially the Bible. She was a lifetime member of Buchanan Christian Church. Most of all, Marti cherished her family. Marti is survived by her son, Budd (Alice) Hopkins of Buchanan; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lou and Maude Schaffer; husband of 41 years, Franklin George Hopkins; four brothers and three sisters.
