Russ was loved as President of Southwestern Michigan College. Every morning he walked through the O’Leary Building and spoke to everyone in every office by name. He had a wonderful smile. He was the only person besides my sister who always called me Janie instead of Jane. He even calle me that when I would see him after he had retired from SMC. Heaven is brighter today b3cause of Russ. My condolences to Pat and his children and grandchildren

I knew Russ from golf at PointoWoods. - he was always a joy never a down day even on the course! He always carried himself as very Happy to be Alive and with you. Russ was a class act- he enlivened every situation and those lucky enough to be around him. May Russ rest in peace!

I only knew Russ from playing golf with him at Point O' Woods. He was always a joy to be with; no complaints, no drama, just enjoying the day on the course with his golfing companions. We lost a real good man.

In honor of Russell, Carole Buller lit a candle.
I am a friend of Russ’ daughter, Kay. I met Russ at Kay’s wedding. I saw how proud he was of Kay and the love he had for his family. I heard stories of what a great sportsman Russ was and how much he enjoyed a good round of golf. I wish I’d had the opportunity to see him play. Russ was a great man and he will be dearly missed. May he Rest In Peace.
