Nellie Mae Druskovich, 87, of Decatur, MI passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Newell Funeral Chapel, 83313 M51, Decatur with Pastor Jim Abshagen officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Cemetery in Decatur. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, August 3, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Webster Memorial Library in Decatur or the Willis C. Bates Chapter of the National Honor Society. Friends wishing to share a memory online may do so at www.newellchapel.com. Nellie was born November 20, 1930 in Decatur, MI to George & Mabel (Himmelwright) Young. Nellie graduated from Decatur High School in 1947. She attended Western Michigan University where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. On July 18, 1953 she married Carl Druskovich in Decatur. Nellie was an elementary teacher in Decatur for many years. She partnered with her husband in running their family farm. She was a descendant of pioneer farmers in Hamilton Township. Nellie was very community minded and was always wanting to make a difference. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Nellie is survived by her children Mrs. Sandy (Doug) Athey, Dr. Sally (Marshall) Weathersby, Dr. Carl (Amy) Druskovich, Dr. Gary (Nancy) Druskovich and Mr. Dan (Judy) Druskovich; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Archie Young, Irving Young and Harold Young and sister Mary Lou Baushke.
