We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of James here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
Our deepest sympathies go out to you Marge and the whole Hall family on the loss of Jim. When we built our cottage next door to you on Black Lake, we could never have imagined having such great neighbors. As "part-timers" to the area, Jim was always there to give us directions to find some unique attraction, advise us on the latest fishing hot-spot, help us find parts for some tinkering or home repair project, render sound advice when asked, or just plain be a good neighbor. Some of our fondest memories of our time there include just sitting by the lake, talking and swapping stories with Jim. He was a great guy and neighbor, and was always there for us when we needed a helping hand.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to each of you.
With deep respect,
The Stanton Clan

We were so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Steve kept us up to date as he had been visiting with Tom and Lindsey. Ron fondly remembers being with him in the wood carving class in Onaway. Jim had a lot of interests and you both kept pretty busy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have been thinking of you. I second Marcia's suggestion - show up at Quilt guild when you're in town. We'd all like to see you again.

Dear Marge,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your Husband. Kris Sorgenfrei had told me what happened. What a shock. I pray for God to surround you with his love & comfort.
I didn't realize that you had moved downstate for good until Kris told me. If you ever get back up here, it would be nice to get together over a cup of coffee. My phone # is(989)938-6476

Sending condolences to Marge and the family of Jim. We did not know he had been ill, nor that you had moved downstate. Please forgive our ignorance. He was a great teacher and a wonderful "boss". Things ran well when he was in Administration. Miss all the great people we worked with. Please accept our late condolences. Virgil & Judy

We would like to send our condolences to the whole family. May you feel God's loving arms around you.
Mr. Hall was a very important and revelent part of our lives. Many students over the years that graduated at Onaway Area Community Schools would definitely say the same.
May the Hall Family know you are in our prayers.

Brown Grosvenor says “ I always looked up to Ike Hall, not because he was a tall man but because of his life time accomplishments.”
Brown also says “ I played with Ike, Mike, and Mustard (Bill) as a child and was a fan of his during his Decatur Raider Athletic Days. “
Joan says “ I first came to know Ike when I listen to all the stories that Brown and Mike told of their growing years together in their School Street neighborhood. Later, when we met, I could see why Ike was so well liked and considered to be one of the finest of long ago friends.”

My deepest sympathies to the Hall family. I had Mr. Hall for several classes and he was a teacher who truly loved his students. He wanted all young students on his watch to succeed. I have thought of him over the years with application for him in my young life. I remember his words, “a bad day at black rock “!! I will keep you all in my prayers.

Rest In Peace Mr. Hall. He was my absolute favorite teacher at OHS, of any year....K-12. Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Junior High BB, Junior Varsity football...every class and sport, he was always so helpful. Throughout the years after graduation, he was never too busy to talk about my high school years. Prayers are with the Hall family.

Condolences to the Hall Family. My grandfather worked at the school and always spoke highly of Mr. Hall, who was the Superintendent when I was in elementary school. I remember once one of my teachers had to leave early unexpectedly & Mr. Hall came down from his office to be with our class of little kids until school got out. At the time, I thought that was pretty cool. May his memory be a blessing.

Mr. Hall was the greatest. I had gotten in school suspension for something I didn’t do. So I had to sit in a class room during lunch while everyone else did their own thing. This went on for weeks. All I had to do was wash the class tables. I wasn’t guilty so I wasn’t going to wash them. After several weeks Mr Hall stopped by and asked me why I wasn’t going to lunch everyday. So I told him that I had been unjustly serving my time. Mr Hall himself washed every table. He was half way through when the teacher walked in and asked him why he was washing the tables. Mr Hall told him that he believed me, that I didn’t write on the tables. That has stuck with me all these years. Rest In Peace Mr Hall.

I am so terribly sorry to hear of your family's loss. Mr. Hall was a tremendous force for good in the Onaway Community, not least of all through his nurturing and mentorship of multiple generations of students! His impact can never be measured and I hope that recognition of this impact and the love we all had for him can bring you some measure of peace and comfort in this difficult time.
