Jodean's Obituary

The Life of Willie “Jodean” Reed

A time to be born: On Friday, June 8, 1963, God saw fit to bless the late Clarence Foster Jr and Jessie Lee (Allen) Clabin with a little chocolate bundle of joy Willie Jodean Reed; named after her maternal grandmother, Willie Word.

Throughout her life, Jodean had several nick names; the one that best described her was “Firecracker” because she was known to pop off.

A time to serve: Jodean attended Benton Harbor Area Schools and was a member of the class of 1981.

Early on, Jodean worked as a home health aide. Because of her passion for cooking, her most rewarding job was cooking and serving in the kitchen of her beloved Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Over the years, Jodean cooked and served many families.

Jodean was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev Emery Varrie at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. She faithfully served the Lord until the day she was called home.

Anyone who knew her, knew she loved God, her family, and her church family. She was a strong woman and proof that GOD is real.

A time to weep: On Sunday, February 4th, 2024, God took Jodean’s hand and called her home. She’s now resting peacefully with her parents-Clarence, Jessie Lee and Allen; her fiancé, Micheal Scott; siblings- Larry Clabin, Albert Clabin, Allen Clabin, Tommy Gorman, Dwite Harden, Corey Foster and Demetria Foster.

Mourning her loss-her son Al Jamal Antonio Lee Reed; bonus children-Anitra Scott, Caprice (Lance) Sutton, Michelle (Andre) Isom, Monique Scott, Markeeta Partee, Dennis Scott, Kevin (Samm) Leftridge, Michael Angelo Scott and Micheal D. Scott; siblings-Delightful (Reymond) Payne, Diane (Roy) Castleberry, Shirley Greer, Michelle Evans, Kim Foster, Ann Davis, Richard Reed, Tillman Troy Clabin, Cedrick Reed, and Tony Harden; bonus sister/cousin Deann Jakes; best friends Maggie Grant and Terry Lynn Price.
Also mourning her loss: Pastor Carlton Lynch, her Pilgrim Rest Church family, her 4-legged fur babies, Diamond and Bobo, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Home Going Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11AM, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1105, E. Main St., Benton Harbor, MI, with Pastor Carlton Lynch officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 269-556-9450.

Gone, but not forgotten.
