William's Obituary

William J. Thompson, 69, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2022. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 51841 Leach Rd. Dowagiac, with Fr. Russell Homic officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions in William’s name may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Porter-Starke Services, Valparaiso Indiana. William was born July 7, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois to Earl G. Thompson and Marguerite Ann (Fenlon) Thompson. William grew up in Dolton, Illinois, graduating from Queen of Apostles Grammar School in 1966. He then attended Marist Catholic High School (Chicago, Illinois), graduating with honors in 1970. After high school William pursued academic studies at Marquette University and Northern Illinois University. During his working career William held various positions within the accounting field. His outside interests included volunteer work with the Howe Association and Goodwill Industries. William was a devout Catholic, enjoyed vacationing at Sister Lakes Michigan, and most all loved spending time with his family.

William is survived by his brothers; James J. Thompson, Joseph M. Thompson, Michael P. Thompson (Debra); nieces Erin N. (Andrew) Smid and KellyAnne (Ryan) Feichter; great-nieces and nephews, Tyghe Gage Smid, Cole Aspen Smid, Lincoln Elizabeth Feichter and Madison Grace Feichter; aunt Veronica (Thompson) Ferrick; and many wonderful cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; Earl G. and Marguerite A. Thompson, loving aunts and uncles; Evelyn C. and George P. Brady, Mary and Donald J. Thompson, Gerald T. (Joe) Ferrick; and much respected cousins George P. Brady, Jr. and Curtis B. Thomas.
