William James's Obituary

William James King (94) was born to the union of Ollie King and Leeartie (Leatrice) Rule on August 24, 1928 in Lexington, Mississippi. Although he was the only child born to this union, William had a sister Pauline Horton.

When William was a young man he moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he met and married his first wife Inez Wilson. To this union 4 children were born, Violet King (Harrell), William James King Jr., Hosea King (Donna), and Joel King. Years later he purchased land in Pullman, Michigan and married his second wife Earnestine in 1972. He, along with the help of his children, family, and friends, built his home. William worked and retired from the industrial Construction business after helping to build the Palisades Power Plant in Covert, Michigan.

William was a devoted husband, dad, and grandaddy and was an amazing provider for his family. He took pride in helping people. He was always laughing, joking and kept a smile on his face and a pep in his step. If you had the chance to meet him, consider yourself blessed. William was a member of the chicago Hebrew Israelite Bible Class for over 60 years. He would make weekly trips from Pullman, Michigan to Chicago, Illinois to attend class. William was preceded in death by both parents, both wives, all (4) children, 5 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 grandchildren (Eugene Harrell III, and Naomi (Jones) King and many more family and friends.

William is survived by his daughter-in-law, Donna King, 7 grandchildren, Roland Harrell (Carolyn), Yolanda Harrell-Fenton, Tara Harrell Walls (Arthour), Christopher Miller King, Kimberly King, Hosea William King Jr (Chanette), LaDonna King (Tyrone), 2 nephews Ray Horton, Eddie Horton, 3 nieces Velma Deering Horton, Aplis Powell Horton and Ella Horton. 16 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and 3 great-great great grandchildren. William had a very amazing friend/brother who was with him to the very end Robert White. There is a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Visitation for William will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Filbrandt Chapel 1076 S. Bailey Avenue, South Haven, Michigan 49090. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation. William will be laid to rest at Lee Township Cemetery: 5422 111th Street, Pullman, Michigan 49450.
