Ursula was born June 13, 1929 in Hildesheim, Germany to Friedrich & Dora (Heinemann) Gampert. On January 27, 1951, she married Edmund Ratz in Germany. After moving to Michigan, Ursula worked for a short time with Edmund at Paramount Die Casting in Stevensville until her son was born, at which time she devoted her time to her family and her home. Ursula was a long-time member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. She was a “baker extraordinaire” who enjoyed baking wonderful pies and cakes for her family, church family and friends. Ursula cherished the time spent with her family and all her friends in her German Community. In her free time, Ursula enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens at home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ursula is survived by her son Harry Ratz of Stevensville; her grandson Tyler Ratz of Stevensville; two sisters-Helga Tostmann of Germany, Herta Gloor of Vermont; her sister-in-law Hannelore Gampert of Germany; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Edmund on December 25, 2001, her siblings and their spouses-Karl (Christa) Gampert, Erich Gampert, Bruno Gloor, Manfred Gampert & Lene (Heinz) Rode, and her sister-in-law Hilda Pfeiffer.
