Thomas's Obituary
Thomas W. Evans of Berrien Springs, passed away November 17 after a long illness. He was 72. Tom graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1967 and from Eastern Michigan University in 1973, with a degree in geography. He had worked for various companies, most recently in retail sales, retiring in 2011.
Tom greatly enjoyed the outdoors, especially landscaping, orchard work, and growing pumpkins and gourds. He had a deep faith in God, a quiet demeanor - and a keen sense of humor around those who knew him best. He was well travelled in his younger years, enjoying Europe and the western US national parks.
Tom was a devoted son and a beloved brother. He is survived by his mother, Doris M. Evans and his brother, Mark G. Evans. His father, Wendell L. Evans, and brother, Bruce, preceded Tom in death.
Tom had a special interest in gospel music, particularly Bill Gaither, and often attended his concerts. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Burial and a private service have taken place. The family thanks The Willows Assisted Living and the Caring Circle for hospice care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Willows Assisted Living, 3440 Niles Rd., St Joseph, MI 49085 or to Caring Circle at 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI, 49085.
