Theodore's Obituary
Theodore Henry Hoekstra, II, of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo.
The family will receive guests from 10am until the time of celebration of life service at 12pm, Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac.
Theodore was born October 8, 1945 in South Holland, IL to Theodore H. and Jessie (Boomsma) Hoekstra. Ted was a quintessential hard-working man. He started his career as a technician for ComEd in Illinois, before retiring as a transportation manager when he was 50. After retirement, Ted went back to work for the Dowagiac school system as a bus driver for many years, up until his passing. He loved to stay busy, whether he was working, doing outdoor chores, or simply tinkering, he enjoyed his active lifestyle. Ted also loved his dogs, Jack and Gemma, and spending time on the lake with his boat. But most importantly, he was a dedicated family man. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his kids, grandkids and extended family; always checking in, offering good advice, and enjoying a good meal.
Ted will be missed by his children, Ted (Tracy) Hoekstra, and Debbie (Kenneth) King; his grandchildren, Timothy King, Theodore H. Hoekstra, IV, Michelle Hoekstra, Renee Hoekstra, and Alexis Price; and his sister, Margaret Hoekstra.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Calvin Hoekstra and Dirk (Janet) Hoekstra; and his parents.
