Susan's Obituary
Susan G. Stoes, 85, of Benton Harbor, previously Stevensville, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Woodland Terrace at Longmeadow in Niles.
Susan was born on October 1, 1938, to Chester and Catherine (Mielke) Groh in Benton Harbor. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School. On August 14, 1988, she married Emmanuel “Manny” Stoes in Benton Harbor, he preceded her in death on October 18, 2022.
In her professional career, Susan held several positions, retiring in administration from a local law firm. Susan and Manny enjoyed wintering in Tuscan, AZ. Following her retirement, Susan found great pleasure volunteering at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. She also liked gardening and especially loved cooking.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Karl) Nika and their children, Karl (Sydney), Erich; son, Martin (Chris) Samartano and his children, Jules, Elliott, Harrison, Vincent and Sarah; and sister, Anne Kilcorse. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Catherine Groh; husband, Manny Stoes and sisters, Barbara Keeler and Kathy Ewing.
Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Susans memory.
