Shirley's Obituary
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Thursday, August 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church Street, St. Joseph with Father Emmanuel officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a prayer service following on Wednesday, August 17 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Shirley was born October 8, 1931 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Frank and Ida Flood. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1949. On May 9, 1953 she married Donald Kasischke in St. Joseph. Shirley retired in 1993 from Whirlpool Corporation. Shirley was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, dancing and boating on Lake Michigan. Shirley was a fan of the University of Michigan and liked nothing better than to watch her family cheer for the UofM Basketball and Football teams on Saturday. Sunday afternoons would include a trip to Sherman’s Dairy in South Haven for ice cream followed by the St Joseph Band Concert.
Shirley is survived by sons Michael (Karen) Kasischke and Patrick (Heidi) Kasischke both of St. Joseph. Granddaughter Kelley (Joseph) Kudia of Lithia, Florida; granddaughters Michelle (Todd) Tillerson of Jefferson, Oregon and Mitzi (Nick) Mason of Dufur, Oregon. Great grandchildren Owen and Riley Kudia, Mckenzie and Bailey Tillerson, and Caleb, Hannah, Thomas and Natalee Mason, and sibling Dorothy O’Connell, John Flood, Bob Flood, Marjorie Johnson and Virginia Vanderboegh. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 61 years Donald Kasischke, her parents, and siblings Frank Flood, Bill Flood and James Flood.
