Shirley's Obituary
Shirley A. Grabowski, 84, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at home with her husband at her side.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 11-noon also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan. Shirley was born on March 27, 1939, to Vernon and Ruth (Casper) Mensinger in New Troy, MI. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader. With her compassionate personality and delight in socializing, Shirley served as a waitress for many years at Homestead, Fireside Inn and Chickhaven. On September 10, 1990, she married Charles “Chuck” Grabowski in St. Joseph.
Shirley loved cooking and baking, frequently hosting family gatherings, always with an impressive array of food. She was passionate about her flower gardens and meticulously maintained them at her home. Shirley also loved going up north to her and Chucks cabin on White River. They had many pets over the years, including birds, cats, dogs, several of them being rescued. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Charles Grabowski; grandchildren, Keith Eberhardt Jr., Katelyn LeCroy, Lucas LeCroy, Jill Ellis and Ray Lester Jr.; stepdaughter, Luann (Gregory) LeCroy; stepsons, Ray Lester, Chuck (Michelle) Lester; sisters, Beverly Cook, Connie (Davd) Menefee, Vernette (Marvin) Chaney and daughter-in-law, Monica Eberhardt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ruth Mensinger and sons, Kevin Eberhardt and Keith Eberhardt Sr.
