Ryan's Obituary

Ryan Anthony Stroud, 38, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born April 26, 1985 in St. Joseph, MI to Larry Stroud and Kristen (Phillips) Humenay.

In celebration of Ryan’s life, the family will receive guests beginning at 12pm on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. A service will follow from 2-3p. The family will be leading the service and asks that anyone who has memories or words to share, to please come prepared to do so.

The family also requests that you leave the solemn, black attire at home, and come wearing color, as Ryan so often did.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that a donation be made to support Ryan's beautiful baby girl, Marlee, and her mama, for the inevitable difficult days ahead at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-support-sweet-marlee-stroud<br>
Everyone who knew Ryan knew that he could bring joy and laughter instantly into a room. His laugh was truly one of kind, and one many won’t soon forget. He could make friends with just about anyone, and cared deeply for those he loved. And if he didn’t like you, well, you’d know that too. Ryan worked hard for everything he ever had in life and took pride in the life he had built alongside his partner, Kara. For as hard as he worked, he played even harder— Ryan loved house music, festivals, nights out with friends, golfing, fishing, online gaming and doing anything at all with his baby girl, Marlee. Ryan was a talented salesman selling solar energy for TruHome Pros across the state of Michigan. He was also a certified Civil Engineer who began his career with Wightman and Associates. As if he wasn’t accomplished enough, Ryan was a skilled craftsman with his contracting license, and could build anything from a coffee table to a house.

Ryan attended Brandywine schools and graduated from Hartford High School. He continued on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Western Michigan University.

Everyone says this, but Ryan truly was larger than life, a giant really… and he wanted to be forever young, and so he will. He will be missed more than words can ever describe.

Ryan is survived by his daughter, Marlee Stroud; his life partner, Kara Maxim; his parents, Larry (Zoey) Stroud, and Kristen (Andrew) Humenay; his siblings, Erica (Ryan) Kuhnlein, Travis (Brittany) Herman, and Jacob Levi Stroud; his nieces & nephews, Oakley, Olivia, and Maeve; and his beloved dog, Capo.
