Roy's Obituary
Roy Earl Simmons, 61, of Detroit, Michigan passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 in Otsego at his brother’s home.
Roy was born October 13, 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee to Albert and Essie Bell (Brown) Simmons. Roy attended Bloomingdale Public Schools for middle school and part of high school before continuing on with the Allegan Public Schools. Roy loved to do gardening and landscaping. Roy was joined in Holy Matrimony with Simone Wheeler and to this union two children were born, Darnecia Latesha Simmons, and Shavon Corrine Maliro.
Roy leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his loving memories: daughter – Shavon Maliro, of Granger, Indiana and his son – Lamond Broadus of Detroit, Michigan. Two grandchildren – Micah Na’Shon Mayece and Siya Freda Maliro. Roy also has six brother, Percy (Claudia), John (Charliene), Sammie (Patricia), Charles (Johanna), Tommie and Willie. Five Sisters- Doretha (Kenneth), Essie (Andre), Johnnie Louise (Danny), Martha Linda Hope (Tommy) and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Roy departed this life on July 4, 2022 and Roy is preceded by his parents - Albert and Essie Bell Simmons, daughter – Darnecia Latesha Simmons, one brother- Albert Simmons, and four sisters – Evelyn Bell, Barbara Kelly, Johnnie Mae, and Viola.
Memorial services will be at Filbrandt Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 1:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. with the Memorial following at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Charles Knox of Mount Calvary Church of Pullman, Michigan will be officiating.
