Darla's Obituary

Roxine “Darla” Youngblood, 85 of Allegan, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Ely Manor. Born on August 7, 1937 in Negaunee Michigan to Russell and Ione Johnson.

Darla is survived by son Robert (Joann) Kelnhofer, Julie (Robert) Byrd, Dennis Kelnhofer and Karen (Brad) Rose, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, late husband Donald Youngblood, former husband Robert Kelnhofer and siblings; Russell Johnson, Eunice Sinclair, Joyce Freeman and Pearl St. Onge.

Darla was a very down to earth non materialistic woman. She enjoyed traveling and riding motorcycles when she was younger. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Darla was an excellent cook, who could make a delicious dish out of anything, being from the Upper Penisula “a Yooper” pasties were one of her favorite things to make. Darla also enjoyed reading novels, thrifting, going to flea markets, watching movies and the occasional trip to a casino.

Visitation for Darla will be Thursday, April13, 2023, at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan, from 11 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12 p.m. Darla will be laid to rest at a later date next to her husband Donald Youngblood at Chambers Cemetery. Pastor Eric Jarvis will officiate.
