Robert was born June 3, 1937 in Benton Harbor to Durward & Mildred (Steltzer) Bly. He graduated from St. Joseph High School, Class of 1955, and attended Benton Harbor Junior College. On February 11, 1960 he married the former Nancy Schulz at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. Robert served his country for ten plus years in the Army National Guard. He wore many hats over the length of his civilian career, most notably as a repair technician with St. John’s Business Machines in South Bend, and finally with Premier Die Cast in Berrien Springs, from where he retired. He was known for his sense of humor, which was usually dry or sarcastic, but still enjoyed by his family and friends. Robert enjoyed going to Four Winds Casino, going out to breakfast with his family, and playing solitaire. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert is survived by his children-Beth (Samuel) Perrone of Berrien Springs, Brian Bly of Baroda; four grandchildren-Sean Perrone, Aubrey Perrone, Zayne Bly & Chelsea Bly; one great-grandson Malcolm Bly; and his brother Ronald Bly of Ionia, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy on December 10, 2004, his parents, and his brother Donald Bly.
