Robert D. Parker, Sr., 73, of Flint, passed away, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Genesee Road Church of God, 4344 N. Genesee Rd, Flint, MI 48506, with Bishop Bruce Badder officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, from 1:00PM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert’s name, may be made to the family, in care of, Joan Parker. Robert was born April 14, 1950, in Flint, to Ervin and Mildren (Bowman) Parker. On December 20, 1969, he married the love of his life, Joan Cambell. Robert was known as a hard worker, and was a truck driver for many years before his retirement. In his younger years, he loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Joan Parker; children, Robert (Melody) Parker, Jr., Jarrod (Heather Durling) Parker and Candy (Brent) Kilbury; grandchildren, Sarah (Justin) Schrelick, Alissa Parker, Alexis Parker, Mackenzie Parker, Logan Kilbury and Abigail Kilbury; great-grandchildren, Caleb Schrelick and Brailynn Welk; sister, Lorraine Haskins; many nieces and nephews who affectionally called him Uncle Si; and sisters-in-law, Deborah Decker, Kim Campbell-Khair and Amy Campbell-Bostwick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Mildren Parker; son, Phillip Parker; granddaughter, Rebecca Parker; great-grandson, Mathew Schrelick; and brother, David Parker.
