A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church (619 Main Street, Saint Joseph, MI 49085) at 1:00 pm. Burial and Military Honors will take place at Riverview Cemetery after the burial service, with a meal following at the Stevensville American Legion, 3093 Johnson Rd. For a more lasting memory, donations in Dick’s name can be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church and School and/or American Legion Post 568 in Stevensville.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Lockman; children, Steve (Heidi) Lockman and Deb (Gregg) Holloway and five grandchildren; Keaton & Brady Holloway and Nick, Zac & Emily Lockman whom he truly loved!
Dick graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1956 and then proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for three years. He entered the Tool & Die industry and soon after founded D&F Mold which he ran for over 50 years and never fully retired. With his ingenuity and driven attitude, he was able to “fix” almost anything. Dick was known for his annual D&F Christmas parties which were well-attended by employees, fellow shops and family, and eagerly anticipated by everyone each year.
Dick never met a stranger and therefore had a large circle of dear friends whether it involved fishing or hunting or hanging out at the “toy barn” or American Legion. If you couldn’t find him there you would usually see him driving around in “Black Beauty” checking things out with his friends. He greatly enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips with friends, taking care of his garden and lawn, and was always available to lend a hand if you needed.
Most of all Faith and Family were very important to Dick and having everyone together, especially his grandkids, to celebrate holidays and special events meant the world to him. He will certainly be missed and remembered fondly.
