Richard Karl Kasmer, 94, of Saint Joseph, Michigan, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at home in Saint Joseph, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St. Joseph with Father Emmanuel Mbah officiating. A private family burial will follow at a later time at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a time of sharing from 6:30 PM until 6:45 PM and a Prayer Service at 6:45 PM, on Monday, June 19th at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Richard was born May 23, 1929 in Adrian, MI to Sylvester and Clara (Loeffler) Kasmer. Following high school, Richard enlisted in the Navy Reserve and the Army proudly serving our country. On July 20, 1957, he married Loretta DeFay at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Richard is survived by wife Loretta Kasmer; children, John (Tracey) Kasmer of Williston, ND, Catherine (Jimmy) Duncan, of Atlanta, GA, Mark (Pamela) Kasmer of Rockford, MI, Rosanne (Randall) Sawyer of San Marcos, CA, and Paula (Ali) Poorani, of Carlsbad, CA; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews & extended family. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Sylvester & Clara Kasmer; son Christopher (Julie) Kasmer; and sister, Mary Carol Kasmer Blakely.
