Ray was born on February 1, 1924, in Sodus, to William & Alvinia (Mass) Lietz. He was confirmed and baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sodus. On June 8, 1946, Ray married the love of his life, Marie (Trapp), at Zion United Church of Christ in Baroda. For over 35 years, Ray worked for Whirlpool Corporations holding various positions such as line worker, painter, and lift driver. After retirement, Ray & Marie would volunteer as drivers for Sawyer Senior Center for over 10 years. When it came to items that were broken around the home, Ray saw him self as a Mr. Fix-it., he would prefer to fix the item himself rather than buying a new one, no matter how unsightly it turned out. Ray enjoyed spending time at the St. Joseph Senior Center playing euchre and bingo with his friends.
Ray is survived by his children, Duane (Marlene) Lietz of Eau Claire and Dennis (Janet) Lietz of Saint Joseph, MI; step-grandchildren, Matthew (Terri) Sernau and Kelly (Bryan) Scholtes; step-great-grandchildren, Brett Sernau and Addison Scholtes. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of nearly 72 years, Marie; and siblings, Dick, Arthur, Louis, Herbert, & Albert Lietz, Hulda Lietz-Scharnowske, Lydia Lietz-Freehrman-Whitman, Lila Lietz-Hess, and Dorothy Lietz-Jackson.
