Rachel's Obituary

Rachel Kietzerow, 24, from Eau Claire, passed away gently in her sleep on July 9, 2023.

Rachel was born on June 11, 1999, her Grandpa’s favorite birthday gift.

Rachel’s life was filled with joy of life, animals, and helping others. It was also filled with pain and frustration of a body that did not do what it was supposed to do because of her rare chronic illnesses. Rachel was a passionate fighter for disability rights.

Rachel used her feelings of frustration of not being listened to or believed by many in the medical field of her many unusual symptoms to advocating for others in their fight to find the cause of their health problems. A shoulder to lean on and a person to not put up with complaining without action in many on-line support groups, she was a leader in showing others how to advocate for themselves and research to find information for doctors. Rachel was very thankful for the following doctors who listened and believed her when she described what was going on with her body: Dr. Byra Reddy (Allergy), Dr. Edmund Paloyan (Hematology), Dr. Rob Nolan (ER), Meredith Krugh, NP (Hematology), Dr. Wade Cooper (Neurology), Dr. Amor Stino (Autonomic Neurology), Dr. William Hassler (GI), Dr. Vinyak Manohar (Cardiology), Dr. Paul Judge (ENT), and Holly Nate, NP (Family Medicine).

Rachel was preceded in death by her father, Eric Kietzerow, her grandfather, Robert Kietzerow, and her grandmother Evelyn Bell.

Staying behind to help with the fight Rachel started is her loving mother, Kelly Goodrum Kietzerow, her sister, Anna Kietzerow, Grandparents Don and Nadean Goodrum, Grandfather Johnny Bell, her best friend Marissa Kathryn, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

To help remember Rachel and to continue help fund research into Autoimmune Autonomic Gangliopathy, please donate to Dysautonomia International at CureDys.org.
