Prudence's Obituary
Prudence V. Mubita, 65, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday morning, September 9, 2023 at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Jospeh Michigan.
She was born on January 5, 1958 in Cape Town, South Africa, the daughter of Edward and Jennifer (Johnston) Baatjies. Prudence was a woman of faith. She always said "From the top of my head to the bottom of my soles, my body belongs to the Lord!" She was intelligent and graduated top of her class. She held a BSN in nursing. She used her skill as a missionary nurse at Yuka Adventist Mission Hospital in Zambia where she cared for the community. On December 19, 1982, she was united in marriage to Imasiku Mubita. The love for her family led them to the United States where she continued her passion for healthcare at Jordan's Nursing Home. She cared for everyone around her beyond her family, friends, and community.
She was dependable, steady, and consistent. She impressed others with her kindness, honesty and humor. She had a smile and laugh that could light up a room. Prudence was willing to drop everything to help others. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving because it was a holiday that was selfless and brought families together. Prudence loved to spend time swimming with her granddaughter, spa treatments, and singing songs with her grandson. Her legacy lives on in her 3 children and 2 grandchildren who she loved dearly.
Surviving are her husband – Imasiku Mubita; three children – Abigail, Amanda and Andrew Mubita; two grandchildren – Ayanni Williams and Maximus Marshall; four brothers – Albert (Lauretta) Baatjies; Edward Baatjies, Kevin (Charlene) Baatjies, Leslie Baatjies; two sisters – Verna Baatjies and Jennifer (Pelham) Johnson; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceding her in death were her parents and infant sister – Priscilla Baatjies.
