Pauline's Obituary

Pauline Rose Mohacsek (nee Koelsch), 94, of St. Joseph, MI, has passed away of natural causes at home.

Pauline was the first generation born in Oklahoma Territory to her parents, Anna and August Koelsch, who made the Oklahoma Land Rush Run in 1889 as children in Conestoga wagons. She grew up on the family farm with seven siblings in Oklahoma City.

In the 1940’s she met her future husband, Frank on a blind date. They married in 1946 in South Bend, IN after he returned home from WWII, serving in the Pacific (Marianna Islands). They were married for 55 years until Frank passed away in 2001.

Pauline always enjoyed styling women’s hair and graduated from Vogue Beauty College of South Bend, IN. After passing her State Boards in the 1960’s, she decided to open her own business, Polly’s Beauty Shop, which she operated for many years. Between working and raising children, she enjoyed crocheting, playing Euchre, gardening and dancing with her husband. She was especially fond of working cross-word puzzles and enjoyed reading books of all types.

In 2002 she moved to St. Joseph, MI and resided there until her passing. She met Robert F. White at the Berrien County Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing Euchre and Dominoes. They were married in 2008.

Pauline is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Patricia (Allen) Warner and Dianna Waltz; four grandchildren, Sarah (Michael Quan) Warner and Adam Warner, Rachel (Josh) Barker and Andrew Waltz; three great-grandchildren, Garrett and Ellyn Barker and Matthias Waltz; a sister, Ramona Wilson of Oklahoma City and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Frank Mohacsek; two brothers and four sisters.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in South Bend, IN at a later date.
