Paul's Obituary

Paul James Sypian, age 61, lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Hanson Hospice Center holding the hand of his daughter. He was born on September 16, 1962, to Paul and Blanche (Timms) Sypian in Rochester, New York.

Paul married the love of his life, Deborah (Marshall) Sypian, September 1982. They shared 29 beautiful years together raising their six children in Florida, Colorado and finally here in Southwest Michigan. He provided for his family by working as a stone mason for most of his life, as well as a butcher and business owner, bringing an intense passion and creativity to both professions. He is credited with sharing his great love and appreciation of music to all of his children and grandchildren, many of whom are musicians. Paul also enjoyed being outdoors in nature and helping animals. He homed many dogs over the years that were treated like family.

A celebration of Paul’s life organized by his children will take place in the spring. For a more lasting memory, donations in Paul’s name can be made out to Paws for Humanity in Three Oaks or Sarett Nature Center in Benton Harbor.

Paul is proudly survived by his children, Nathan and his wife Leslie Sypian, Matthew Sypian, Jared and his wife Donna Sypian, Abram Sypian, Bethia and her husband Jacob Kindelin, Elisa Sypian; his grandchildren, Sonny Sypian, Landon Sypian, Grace Sypian, Jameson Sypian; his sisters, Audrey Mae, Tania Beckel, Lynn Sypian; and his nieces and nephews, Sarah Sypian, Ashley Krest, Amanda Krest, Paul Kogut, and Lucas Kogut.
