Patricia's Obituary

Patricia Anne (Lake) Kelley, 87, from St. Joseph, Ml, died February 2, 2024. Patricia was born to Warren Lake and Helen (Ender) Lake on December 8, 1936 in Benton Harbor, Ml. She had currently resided in a nursing home in Zeeland, Ml. She had prior marriages to Paul Kelley, John Yerington II, Theodore Slusher and Nicholas Peet.

Patsy lived a vibrant and diverse life. She was crowned prom queen while attending and graduating from Benton Harbor High School. She was active in a range of hobbies from ball room dancing early in her life, snow skiing, and golf later on. She was an avid collector of a variety of antiques and was especially fond of her collection of ornate dolls. Curating and cherishing them, she was especially proud of having brokered a portion of her collection to the actress Demi Moore.

She spent her summers living along the west Michigan coastline between St. Joseph and Holland, owned a home in the warmth of Arizona and was an early investor in the upcoming ski resort of Beaver Creek, Colorado, where she spent her winters. She had been a realtor earlier in her life and as she acquired her various properties, she remodeled the locations adding to their value with an understanding for design and style. She had also worked at the Secretary of State in Benton Harbor for years while living in St. Joseph.

Social and bright with a smile, she would throw gatherings and parties with a gracious nature. Being an excellent cook and having a diverse taste for food, she took delight in being in the kitchen. For large family gatherings and parties, she would insist on a festive spread of choices with an insistence for quality, even when it was her own efforts to provide it.
For those who knew her, Patsy will be remembered for her fun-loving nature, her generosity at times, and the flavors and style she created in her homes. She could be a compassionate person, who loved to bring humor and laughter to those around her. She will be missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Vickie (Donald) Frazier; her son, Eric (Connie) Peet; grandson, Jeffery Frazier and granddaughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Tevis and great-grandchildren, Kailey, Kaiden, Keziah, and Kyler.

A private family gathering will take place at the gravesite where her ashes will be placed later in the spring of 2024. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starksfamilyfh.com.
