Norma Jean Fannin “Jean”, 78, of Benton Harbor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Hanson Hospice in Stevensville, due to pancreatic cancer. She was born to Fred and Mary Nunley on February 25, 1944 in Benton Harbor.

Interment will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be given to Lory’s Place, www.spectrumhealthlakeland.org/lorys-place, Caring Circle Hospice, www.spectrumhealthlakeland.org/caring-circle or Lifegate Baptist Church, 2890 S. Park Rd., Eau Claire, MI 49111.

Jean was a very fun loving, outgoing person that never met a stranger. A very hard-working, frugal woman, her motto was “make do with what you have.” She loved her church family from Lifegate Baptist Church, which she always referred to as her little house on the prairie church. She also enjoyed singing for the choir and spending time outdoors working in the yard. Jean loved to travel, visiting many states, but the highlight was the dream trip she took to Ireland. She was proud to be a stay-at-home mother when her children were young. She retired from Gast Manufacturing after 25 years but her true calling was being a nurse in her younger years. As a natural born volunteer, she was also a member of the Tops program and was a part of the Adopt a Road program for many years. She was also involved in the North Berrien historical society in Coloma and a lifetime member of Lest We Forget. Jean had an unshakable faith in her Savior and knew her life was in His hands. She was so blessed with many supportive friends that she never took for granted. She wouldn’t want her friends and family to be sad, knowing that she has gone Home, and all the fun times shared together.

Jean is survived by her son, Darrin (Jennifer) Fannin; and her siblings, Mike (Chris) Rutherford, Steve (Brenda) Rutherford, and Roxie Gunn. She is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Fannin; her siblings, Robert Nunley and Jim Nunley; and her parents.
