Nicole's Obituary
Nicole Valerie Moon, 61, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024. Nicole was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Gordon A. (Col., U.S. Army) and Chantal (Mathieu) Moon.
Nicole was an avid nature lover. She enjoyed walks along Lake Michigan, gardening and bird watching. Hummingbirds were her favorite. She was also an accomplished artist. Nicole will be remembered for her generous and vibrant spirit, as well as her remarkable courage.
Nicole is survived by her loving partner, Jim Powers, along with brother, Robert J. Moon, and sisters, Gigie (Tsukasa) Suehiro, Nellie (William) Dytrych, and Helene (Richard) Moy. Nicole is the loving aunt of Yuji (Samantha) Suehiro, Misaki Suehiro, Samuel (Natalie) Dytrych, Katherine Moy, Claire Moon, and Georgia Moon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Nicole Valerie Moon to the American Cancer Society, Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A memorial ceremony will be held at Sarett Nature Center in Benton Harbor later this summer for friends and family. Invitations will be sent out weeks in advance so everyone will be able to attend.
