Nancy's Obituary
Nancy Marie Petrosky, age 96, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from natural causes at her home in St. Joseph.
Nancy was born to parents Bruno and Lydia Kissau and raised in St. Joseph. As a young adult she moved to Detroit where she worked in her father’s new business there and was married to Charles Petrosky. When she was widowed in 1954, she returned to St. Joe and started a new household with her sister, her niece and her son. In 1959 Nancy enrolled in the first class given by Twin City Beauty College. She subsequently became a hair stylist there, one of the first instructors at the college, then a partner, and ultimately the sole owner. Nancy continued as the owner and director of Twin City beauty College and Visible Changes hair salons until a new owner acquired the business in 1999. Nancy was delighted to contribute to the business community and to provide educational and career opportunities to many young ladies in the Twin Cities Area over the years. The family wish to express their gratitude to the many friends and neighbors in the area who worked with Nancy and showed their friendship and support. Also, a special word of thanks and appreciation goes out to all the staff at Private Duty Home Health who lovingly cared for Nancy over the past three years.
Nancy is survived by her sister Elsie Woodrow, age 98, her neice, Nikki Woodrow, son Jeff Petrosky and his wife Theresa McCarver Petrosky. Nancy also has three grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Jeff & Theresa’s family - Kristoph Petrosky; Elise (Petrosky) Ely with her husband Seth and their children, Rainan and Abel; Joelle (Petrosky) Muenich with her husband David and their children Ryder, Elias and Eden. Burial has already occurred, but the family invites friends and extended family to attend a memorial service and celebration of life to be scheduled at the end of July 2023 at Starks-Menchinger 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
