Nancy's Obituary
Nancy J. Vredberg, 73, of Baroda, passed away, Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at The Vredberg Residence, 8774 Ruggles Rd., Baroda, with Rev. Jaime Cervantes & Rev. Fran Grabowski officiating. Nancy was born September 10, 1949 in St. Paul, MN to William J. & Lois (Nelson) VanKleek, Sr. She attended Edgerton Elementary School, Oltman Jr. High School, and graduated from Park High School, class of 1967, in Cottage Grove, MN. Nancy served as a Candy Striper while in high school and went on to earn her LPN certification from the Chicago Board of Education Nursing Program. On September 2, 1972, she married Alan “Al” Vredberg at Ridge Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL. Nancy dedicated her life to caring for her family, and for others at various hospitals, and private practices in the Chicago area. Her favorite was the time spent with Dieke Children’s Home for developmentally challenged in Winfield, IL. After she & Al moved to St. Joseph in 1999, Nancy worked for Southshore Women’s Health and also owned & operated Nancy’s Lake View Rentals in St. Joseph for twenty-three years. Nancy was an avid reader, actively volunteered in the community and church, was a past president of Glendale Heights Jr. Women’s Club and a member of the Benton Harbor-Fairplain Lions Club, previously serving as club president. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Nancy is survived by her husband of nearly fifty-one years, Al Vredberg; her children-Jenny Vredberg of St. Joseph, Robert Vredberg of Baroda; her siblings-Barbara Morgan of Portage, IN, William J. (Kristin) VanKleek, Jr. of Crown Pointe, IN, Jeffrey Gordon VanKleek of Benton Harbor, Douglas Jay (Claudine) VanKleek of Munster, IN, Scott Carl VanKleek of Michigan City, IN; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents-William & Lois VanKleek.
