Michael's Obituary
Michael Joseph Anstey, 67, of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at home. Mike was the 2nd of 7 children born October 3rd, 1956 to Thomas and Kathleen (Hosbein) Anstey. He loved growing up on Lake Michigan boating with family and friends.
On October 12, 1991 Mike married his beloved wife Bonnie (McIntyre) Anstey. They were married over 32 years. Together he and Bonnie continued boating as well as golfing, hiking, traveling, gardening, puzzles and spending time with many wonderful lifelong friends.
He graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1975 and started his working career at Anstey Foundry. Mike then pursued a skilled trade opportunity at Industrial Pattern Works, where he completed a 5-year apprenticeship and earned his journeyman card. In 1995, he graduated with his Associate Degree in Skilled Trade Technology from LMC. For the next 24 years he designed and built foundry tooling using CAD/CAM for Industrial Pattern Works, followed by 6 years at BCI Solutions, then retiring in May of 2021.
Mike is survived by his wife Bonnie; his father Thomas of Stevensville, his siblings David of St. Joseph, Thomas (Judy) of Grand Marais, Mark (Michelle Toscos) of Florida, Kathleen (Justin) Kochs of St. Joseph and Robert (Christine) of Berrien Springs. Mike was also blessed with many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews and was most proud to be Godfather to Robert Diebold, Aubrey Diebold, and Alex Kochs.
He was preceded in death by his mother Kathleen and his brother Steven.
Services will be held Saturday, February 3rd at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sarett Nature Center.
