Marylou's Obituary
Marylou Reed, 89, of St. Joseph, MI, passed away on Friday – May 20, 2022 at Spectrum Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph. Private family services will be held at a later date. The family asks that memorial contributions may be made to the SWMI Humane Society or to any animal rescue refuge organization. Starks & Menchinger Chapel – 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI, has been entrusted with arrangements.
Marylou was born on October 29, 1932 in Shelby, MI to the late Otis and Rose Lovell. On May 8, 1949 she married Richard Reed; he preceded her in death on June 18, 1990.
Marylou is survived by her two children – Michael “Mike/Tiny” Reed of Charlotte, MI and Patricia “Pat” (Paul Streit) Grannell of St. Joseph, MI; grandchildren – Douglas (Cheryl Pesti) Howard, Jr., David (Jenna) Howard, Katie Reed, Joseph Reed, Brian Reed, Jamie (Terry) Toth and Michael Streit; great grandchildren – Tristan (Bailey Birman) Howard, Connor (Marlaina Kiggins) Howard, Zoey Howard, Wyatt Howard, Maecy Howard, Noah Streit, Garrett Toth and Olivia Reed; and a great great grandchild – Kenobi Howard. She is preceded in death by a brother – Leo and a sister – Rosemarie.
Marylou worked for 38 years – retiring in 2011, at Ye Olde Wash Tub in Benton Harbor, MI, and was affectionally known as the ‘wash lady’. She enjoyed reading and needlepoint embroidery. Marylou was extremely proud of her family – from her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, too her most recent great-great grandchild. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
