Mary's Obituary
Mary Kasun, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She was born on November 28, 1934, to Stephen and Josephine (Zawilla) Awdukewich in Eau Claire, Michigan. On February 6, 1953, she married the love of her life, Robert A. Kasun, and they spent 43 years together until his passing in 1996.
A funeral service for Mary will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Starks and Menchinger Chapel (2650 Niles Rd.) with visitation taking place one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery following services. For a more lasting memory, donations in Mary’s name can be made out to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan.
Mary was a passionate crafter. She loved to sew and quilt as a hobby and as a devotion. Over the years she had made thousands of lap quilts for charity at her time quilting for St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stevensville. She also loved dancing, especially to her beloved polka music.
Mary is survived by her children, Robert Kasun, Kathy (Dana) Averill; daughter-in-law, (Bev Kasun); grandchildren, Sara, Martha, Jon, Rob, Kelsey, Stryker, Jeff, Joseph; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert A. Kasun; son, Timothy Kasun; and grandchild, Daniel Kasun.
