Mary Jane's Obituary

Mary Jane Rudlaff, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, joined her husband and the Lord on December 2, 2024. She was surrounded by family when she passed away peacefully at the age of 74, after a long battle with cancer. She was a real trooper through the last two years between our dad’s illness and dealing with her own.

Mary Jane was born on March 24, 1950, to Sylvester and Betty (Hall) Jackowiak in Niles, Michigan. Mary Jane retired from American General Finance after 30 plus years. Mary Jane married her soulmate, Robert A. Rudlaff Sr. on August 8, 1981. They were happily married for 43 years. Together they had four children from previous marriages. Mary Jane enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids. Her pastimes included coin shows with Bob, and going up to her son's property up in northern Michigan every summer. She always talked to her sisters, especially Judy Thrash, and sister-in-law Alverda Rudlaff. But for Mary Jane, everything was about Christmas, especially Hallmark Channel shows. Mary Jane had a very strong faith in the Lord.

Mary Jane is survived by her children, Carolyn (Thomas) Walton, Robert (Carol) Rudlaff Jr., Michelle (Scott) Breinling, and Scott (Stephanie) Rudlaff; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Judy Thrash in Arizona, Janice (Dave) Hess, and Patty Carr. She also has one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rudlaff Sr, her parents Sylvester and Betty Jackowiak, in-laws Carl and Augusta Rudlaff. Her sister and brothers-in-law,
Jeff Carr, Dewey Thrash, Fred, Herman, Herbert (Mary), Ernie, Arthur, Walter (Melinda) Rudlaff. Matilda (Arthur) Sonnenburg, Carla (Larry) Hamilton, and Ruth (Bernice) Elis.

The Rudlaff family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Caring Circle Hospice for the year and a half they cared for Mary Jane. During that time, everyone was so wonderful to her. They especially would like to thank Melody and Michelle. She always looked forward to seeing you. She was always so excited when answering the phone knowing it was Melody.
Thank you for making our mom so happy, especially during this last month.
