Marion R. Peterson, 93, of Stevensville, MI passed away on Thursday – November 4, 2021 at the St. Claire Medical Hospital Morehead, Ky. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Marion was born on May 12, 1928 in Kellersburg, Pa. to the late Herman and MerCelia (Truitt) Rhodes. On June 4, 1948 in Distant, Pa, Marion married Raymond T. Peterson, Jr; he preceded her in death on August 7, 2012. Marion attended First Church of God in St Joseph and Wilson Creek Baptist Church in Grayson Ky. She especially loved sewing, knitting and spending time with her beloved family.
Marion is survived by her two sons – Gerald (Denise) Peterson of Stevensville and David (Angela) Peterson of Olive Hill, Ky; grandchildren – Gerald (Debra) Peterson, Kristeen Banish, John (Heather) Peterson, Lynda (Neal) Peterson-Buchanan, Caryn (Roger) Grimm, Brian (Liz) Fields; great grandchildren – Shawna, MerCelia, Turner, Violet, Ava, Abby and Lydia; and brother Carl Rhodes, sister Nancy Toy and sister-in-law Millie Rhodes, brother in-law Terry Peterson. She is preceded in death by daughter Greta Fields, brother – Harold Rhodes and sisters – Kathryn Long, Margaret Rhodes, Dorothy Szymecki, Mary Long, and Delores Young.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021, 1:00pm, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor David Colp officiating. Burial will occur at the Great Lakes National Cemetery later. Visitation precedes the service from 12:00pm-1:00pm at the funeral home.
