Mariethel's Obituary
Mariethel Tenerelli, 87, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023 in Columbus, OH with family by her side.
Mariethel was born on March 12, 1936, in Kewanna, IN to Alton and Ethel (Hektor) Fry. On March 30, 1967, she married Anthony “Tony” Tenerelli and moved to the Benton Harbor area. Mariethel was employed at All-Phase Electric Supply as an Insurance Claims Manager for more than 25 years. Prior to that, she worked in a dermatology practice in South Bend, IN, which is where she and Tony met and fell in love. Mariethel attended Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC where she was a Chi Kappa Delta and Central High School, South Bend.
Mariethel knew no strangers and was quick with a smile and kind words. She was devoted to her faith, family and friends. She enjoyed caring for others, was a voracious reader and appreciated simple things like sharing a meal with family and friends, shopping, and playing cards and board games. She especially loved spending time with her grandsons. Mariethel was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, St. Joseph, MI.
Mariethel is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Buck) Smith and two grandsons, Carter and Cooper Smith of Powell, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Tony Tenerelli; father and mother, Alton and Ethel (Hektor) Fry; and brother, Gene Fry.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 11 from 10AM until 11:30AM with a prayer service beginning at 11:30AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. A private burial will be held following the service.
