Marianne's Obituary
She was born in Benton Harbor, MI to Jack and Palma Martorano. She graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic High School in 1971. Marianne furthered her education at Lake Michigan College and Western Michigan University. Marianne, along with other family members, owned and operated Martorano’s Pizza in the Southwest Michigan area for over 25 years. She had a passion for art and created beautiful paintings, photographs and pottery.
She loved to travel and valued new experiences and different cultures. Her favorite trips were to Italy, Ireland and Scotland. Marianne was also a guitarist and enjoyed singing at celebrations with family and friends. Above all, she loved being with her family and cherished every moment with her nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as “Auntie Mimi.”
Marianne is survived by her siblings; Joseph (Margaret) Martorano of Western Springs, IL, Christine (Keith) Kolberg of St. Joseph, MI, Phillip (Donna) Martorano of Ingleside, IL, nieces; Alexandra (Anthony) Udell and Anna Martorano, nephews; Michael Martorano and Matthew Martorano; aunts, Roselyn (Joseph) Sax and Sharon Martorano and many cousins whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Marianne is preceded in death by her nephew, Joseph Patrick “Jo-Jo” Martorano; aunts and uncles Marie and Carlo Randazzo, Mary and Frank Barry, Pete and Imogene Martorano, Leo and Mitzi Martorano, and Fred Martorano. The family would like to give a special thanks to Julia Bates who loved and cared for Marianne for many years.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 10:30AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 9AM until 9:45AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
