Margaret was born in Woodburn, IN, on September 13, 1930 and was the 12th of 14 children born to William & Louise (Kammeyer) Rekeweg. She was baptized at Woodburn Lutheran Church (Bullrapids). Shortly after her birth the family moved to a farm in Wells County in Ossian, IN where she attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Ossian High School graduating in 1948. Throughout her school years, she helped with farm chores during the depression and World War II eras. Upon her graduation, she attended St. Mary’s Catholic Hospital for training to become an x-ray technician. Following graduation in 1950, Margaret went to work for Caylor-Nichel Clinic in Bluffton, IN. It was during this time that she met her husband-to-be, Loren. Their first date was Memorial Day in 1951 at Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer, MI. They were married on August 23, 1952 and enjoyed 71 years of wonderful married life. Margaret dedicated her life to raising their family of six children. Their first two homes which they outgrew were in Fort Wayne, then they moved to Napoleon, OH after four years and finally moved to Stevensville in 1969.

Margaret proudly volunteered at the church and church events. She enjoyed having been involved in evangelism, youth and choir activities. She enjoyed camping during vacation season with their children in many states and federal campgrounds. One of Margaret’s favorite activities was with the organized bible study fellowship, where her group of ladies would make items for missions in Africa.
She is survived by her husband, Loren; children, Jim (Denise) Gerber of Holt, MI., Steve (Eloise) Gerber of St. Joseph, MI, Susan (Craig) Anderson of Mattawan, MI, Tom (Karen) Gerber of Grand Haven, MI., Dan (Kathie) Gerber of Battle Creek, MI., Mark (Sheila) Gerber of Waterford, MI.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a brother Richard Rekeweg.
