Marcella's Obituary
Marcella E. Peterson, 90, of Dowagiac, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St. Dowagiac. Burial will follow at Hamilton Cemetery in Decatur. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Marcella’s honor may be made to First Christian Church. Marcella was born February 18, 1933, Dowagiac, to Irving and Marjorie (Blake) Mead. On March 18, 1967, she married the love of her life, Harold Peterson. She had a strong faith in God and was a long-time member of the First Christian Church. Marcella loved playing Bingo at the Council on Aging. She enjoyed gardening and having coffee hour at McDonalds with her husband. Most of all she loved her family and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Glenna (Tim) Newton and Eric (Dawn) Peterson; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and brother Dalton (Judy) Mead. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Marjorie Mead; husband, Harold Peterson; and siblings, Carol Mead, Herbert Mead and Betty Phillips.
