Luella's Obituary

Luella M. (Osborn) Elsner, 90, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Private Family services will be held at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorial donations in Luella’s name may be made to First Baptist Church in St. Joseph. Those wishing to sign Luella’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Luella was born May 1, 1931 in Benton Harbor to G. Maurice & Frieda (Steele) Osborn. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1949. Luella received voice and piano lessons locally for many years, and later in high school, rode the train to Chicago to receive additional lessons to refine her gift. After meeting on a blind date, set up by her best friend, she married Leonard A. Elsner in Benton Harbor. She sang soprano, played the piano and was in the choir at the former Lakeshore Baptist Church in Stevensville for many years. She served her Church with joy through her singing and musical talent. Luella sang professionally for many weddings, Churches and celebrations. She always had a song in her heart. Most of all, she loved holidays and birthdays with her children and grandchildren. Luella retired as a bus driver from St. Joseph Public Schools after many years of service.

Luella is survived by her children-Brenda J. Elsner of Thompson Station, TN, Wanda M. Johnson (Dennis Johnson-Deceased) of Franklin, TN, John E. (Diana) Elsner of Sarasota, FL and Frieda A. (Paul) Krugler of Tyler, TX; grandchildren-Jason C. Zimmerman, Alexandra Johnson, Paul A. Krugler, II, Bryant L. Johnson, Elizabeth (Brian) Johnson-Caramucci, Anna Johnson; several great-grandchildren; and her sister Barbara J. Dee of Graceville, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard A. Elsner, son-in-law Dennis Johnson, brothers-Alfred & Charles Osborn, and her parents-G. Maurice & Frieda (Steele) Osborn.

Luella’s family would like to thank the staff at Morning Point for the excellent care afforded her while she resided there.
